    Parents learn details of keeping their children safe during the Internet & Social Media Safety class taught by Captain Best from the Lexington Police Dept.

    Parents, students, staff and families joined the Jacket Parent Academy during the 2nd annual Taste Test Time pre-Thanksgiving event. Parents, students, staff and families were able to enjoy Hispanic cuisine made by members of the Latino Association of Davidson County and the Latinx Scholar Society of Davidson-Davie Community College. Families also enjoyed cultural giveaways and Hispanic BINGO while Jacket Parent Academy Ambassadors and Alumni happily assisted with all activities of the night.

    Parents joined the Jacket Parent Academy and staff of Davidson Medical Ministries during the "Walk with a Dr." initiative held once a month at Myers Park. Parents were able to enjoy a brisk and stress-free walk with Dr. Snow, Medical Director, while childcare was provided.

    Members of the Latino Association of Davidson County share information about the Dominican Republic as JPA celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month. Attendees enjoyed a special juice and designed a faceless doll, a popular craft in the Dominican Republic. Our new superintendent, Dr. Hardy also spoke about her 100-day plan while celebrating the Hispanic culture and our Ward 5 school board representative, Angela McDuffie, joined in on the celebration as well.

    LCS Special Services/Programs speakers educate parents online regarding the MTSS, IEP and 504 processes and services available to our students.

    Middle school parents attend online as counselors from Lexington Middle School discuss numerous academic elements and available opportunities for students.

    Parents stay abreast of information and changes during the"Elementary Readiness" session held at Southwest Elementary Global Academy.

    Parents attended the "Kindergarten Readiness" session at South Lexington School & Developmental Center to learn about the ins and outs of kindergarten.

    Parents and students enjoyed learning of the various resources the Lexington Library has to assist students with their homework. Mrs. Alston, of Club SMILED, offered guidance to parents regarding literacy rates and interventions parents can use to help their students progress in reading. Parents received incentives such as library paraphernalia and discount services for evaluations and afterschool services.

    Parents attentively listened to the details of the Jacket Parent Academy's mission, vision and goals during the weeklong interest sessions held online. Parents expressed their interest in joining the academy for the 2023-2024 school year and also engaged in conversations with JPA alumni and ambassadors.
