My visual arts curriculum is based on the philosophy of CHOICE-BASED ART EDUCATION and STUDIO HABITS of MIND which regards students as artists and offers each student the choice to respond to their own ideas and interests through the making of art. While we will have plenty of teacher led projects, my goal is to encourage confidence in students ability to explore and navigate their own creativity. This type of learning environment provides a classroom where the diverse needs of students and various styles of learning can be achieved.
Students are taught how to build on an idea, and how to refine an art piece for display. We will also cover “artist statements” to accompany “final” pieces which will be displayed.
